Senaru Waterfall
Senaru settlement in North Lombok's Bayan subdistrict Senaru village, which is also a well-liked tourist destination, is associated with two waterfalls that come from Mount Rinjani.
The history of Sendang Gile Waterfall is fascinating. Sengang gile, which translates to “crazy lion,” was the initial statement that gave rise to the name Sendang Gile. Because lions once wiped out one of the settlements, it is known as the “mad lion.”
Locals searched the forest for it, and one of them discovered the waterfall while searching for Sengang Gile, a crazed lion. The name gradually evolved into Sendang Gile. In addition, Batu Ko’ (buffalo rock) is another name for this waterfall.
This waterfall is located in Batukoq hamlet’s Senaru village. According to popular belief, the waterfall’s water flow originates from Lake Segara Anak, which is also close to Mount Rinjani.
The elevation of this waterfall is around 600 meters above sea level. The distance from the riverbed to the deep is around 31 meters. There are two tiers to the Sendang Gile waterfall. Water rushes or plunges into the pool between the first and second levels on the first level from the apex. The second level, meantime, is the pool water flow that descends and joins the river at the waterfall’s foot.
The water in this waterfall is pure and rushes quickly from a 42-meter-high rock cliff in tiers. Tiu Kelep Waterfall still has a really lovely, natural ambiance. Along the trail path to the waterfall location, you can take in the coolness of the tropical rain forest with its enormous, luscious trees.
Tiu Kelep Waterfall’s name is derived from the Sasak words “tiu,” which means swimming pool, and “kelep,” which means fly. The clean water flows everywhere, hence the name. The locals think that bathing in Tiu Kelep’s clean water may keep you young, keep your body healthy, and give you more energy. Dewi Anjani, the protector of Mount Rinjani, lives near Segara Anak Lake, where a similar tale is told.
Together with swimming and bathing in the cool, pure water from Mount Rinjani, you can unwind at the Tiu Kelep waterfall with your loved ones. when the water is clean, you can also prepare meals like tea and coffee there to unwind after feeling the chill of the waterfall.
